Last weekend was Homecoming for Wakeland, and I have to admit that I was not really focused, so my progress had stalled. However, I have conducted 2 interviews so far, one with Mr. Poppasani and one with Mr. Chen. These interviews gave me a good amount of insight into the career of Machine Learning, and it was fascinating to learn about some of the projects these individuals have worked on, especially Mr. Chen. Mr. Chen, who works for Walmart, has worked to integrate Computer Vision in robots to check stock of different items. He has also worked on a software to detect thievery at self-guided checkouts. However, these interviews have definitely shaken up my confidence in the achievability of the Final Product which I am thinking of. Both of them strongly cautioned against building a diagnostic tool since these models need a lot of data to train them. Due to patient doctor confidentiality and other privacy laws, it would be hard to get my hands on these retinal scans.
