This past week, I had the ISM business symposium, where I got the amazing opportunity to network with a variety of individuals and speak to them about my research, as well as gain insight on others’ research. Of the students I met, one other student had the topic of Machine learning, but she was applying it to Economics. From what I understood, her plan is to develop a software to predict stock futures by analyzing a multitude of factors involved in determining stock price. We spoke about how difficult it is to find contacts willing to interview in the Machine Learning industry and exchanged call logs. Another individual I spoke to was Mr. Nick Seeman, who works at Ernst & Young as a managing director. We spoke about AI ethics, and how that plays into his job. We spoke about my research in Oculomics and discussed the nuances involved in the project I am planning. We also spoke about getting the eye scans necessary to train an Oculomic image recognition model, since retinal scans are now considered identifiable biometric information.
