Last Thursday, our ISM class had research speeches at the Frisco Public Library. I spoke about my topic, and I delved into my Original Work Topic, Oculomics. To start off, I introduced myself with a quote and delved into my topic. I spoke about the process involved in Oculomics in order to highlight the key differences between it and the current standard. I went over the professionals I interviewed, spoke about some of the projects they've worked on, and shared the tips they gave me for getting started with my original work. I felt that this speech was extremely beneficial for me, because it forced me to hold myself accountable. Most of the time, I tend to procrastinate and complete everything last minute. Sharing my work so far and receiving validation from my peers and Mr. Ratliff felt really great. The experience was genuinely useful because I gained insight into how my peers were conducting research as well. I have an interview next week with Mr. Tinder Matamba, who will speak to me about his career and hopefully help me with my Original Work.
