It's been a great first few weeks, and I'm ready to dive back into ISM this year. We're moving past formalities, like intro speeches, mission statements, quotes, and ISM II group selections. One thing that feels starkly different from last year is the power dynamic shift that comes with being an ISM II student. While it is more responsibility, it feels great to have more of a grasp on this class and an idea of what I want to accomplish compared to last year. Over the summer, Rayhan, an ISM II at Memorial, reached out to me for assistance in setting up conferences for ISM I students interested in AI. We plan to re-do the General AI conference at PGA this year and also host a conference at UNT with more of a technical focus, since most students will be more familiar with the technical aspects of their topics by November. This year, I personally aim to move away from Deep Learning and CNNs to sequential-based learning with Recurrent Neural Networks and Transformers. I also hope to either continue with my past mentor or find a new mentor who is familiar with AI Health Informatics, to publish research in the field.
